notes on Coronaeus

In Greek mythology, King Coronaeus of Phocis was the father of Coronis, who was changed by Athena into a crow to enable her escape from Poseidon. The name Coronaeus is likely related to the Greek korōnē: culmination; something curved like a crow's beak; kind of crown.

Our model, Raven has an armband tattooed with a raven, of which only the beak is visible in my painting.

  2. Hey there Wakitsch,

You ought to have told me you FINALLY started blogging (again!) I need to go make some links. I love this portrait. One of the nicest surprises at the studio since I got back. Beautiful work.
