Silvertone round pendant necklace, set with a miniature (16mm = 5/8") oil painting of a pink pearl hand-painted in trompe l'oeil ("fool the eye") on a circle of fine portrait linen. The pearl painting is a delicate ballet pink, and there is a subtle deeper pink heart reflection hidden in the center of the pearl. 

Original design and hand-painting by artist Anna Wakitsch of The Pearl Paintbrush. The pendant is threaded on a pretty ballet pink satin ribbon which can be tied as a short necklace or choker. If you prefer, you can easily remove the ribbon and replace it with your own chain. The necklace will arrive in a pretty gift box (style and color of packaging may vary).

Mini Copy of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring

Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring is visiting the United States!! Her exhibit in San Francisco opens tomorrow, January 26, 2013 ( http://girl.famsf.org/girl-about ).

New Painting: Echo

Echo (Apple and Nautilus at a Window), 8" x 10", oil and 12k white gold leaf on panel

My new painting Echo will soon be on its way to Haynes Galleries for the small works show!  The idea for this painting began when I glanced over at my table full of potential still life objects and one accidental arrangement caught my eye:  a ripe red apple reflecting pink in the neighboring pearly nautilus shell, surrounded by the suble lavender hue of my studio walls. I loved the combination of delicate pastel colors with the vibrant candy-apple red of the fruit, and set up a still life with the shell and apple sitting on a windowsill.  I decided to frame the composition within an elliptical arch gilded in white-gold leaf, to echo the curves and shimmer of the nautilus.
